Spiritual places should inspire and engage, with an energy drawn from nature and architectural surroundings. H2L2 employed a thoughtful design process to deliver a master plan for this 500-acre campus, uniting disjointed building, landscape, and circulation elements with a unifying and holistic approach. Peripheral service roads create physical links between buildings, while landmark structures fill open vistas and spatial enclaves are better defined.
Natural light floods the Swedenborg Library, an intellectual hub at the heart of the Academy's evolving campus. With 35,000 square feet and three floors, the library's design complements the historical and religious character of the campus, and the latest technologies are used to preserve and secure the Academy's special and rare collections. The pleasing aesthetics of the space are enhanced by functional organization and articulated elements, providing an array of environments conducive to contemplation, study and learning.
