Delaware River Port Authority
PATCO Administration Building
Lindenwold, NJ
The Port Authority Transit Corp., a division of the Delaware River Port Authority, shuttles thousands of train commuters daily between Center City Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. The building's design had two competing criteria: the building had to provide administrative offices while also consolidating operational space for the control towers that keep the trains running in a safe and secure manner.
The new building serves as a gateway to the rest of a largely industrial site. On either side of the building there are trains. And at the rear, NJ Transit makes runs to Atlantic City; across the road, at the front of the building, PATCO trains pass by on their way to the maintenance yard.
